Members of Weybridge Beekeepers pick up many swarms each year. If they do not wish to keep the swarms themselves, then the Swarm Co-ordinator holds a list of people looking to obtain a swarm. If you would like to have your name added to the list of people wanting swarms please email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Priority is generally given on a first come first served basis and to beginners or in exceptional circumstances members who have suffered major winter losses and is at the discretion of the Swarm Co-ordinator.
You will be asked for a donation to the division for the swarm. Early in the season this is based on £10 per seam of bees (maximum £50) although later in the season there will be some discretion on this. £5 of this donation goes to the swarm collector to cover their petrol costs in collecting the swarm and the rest to divisional funds. You may also be asked to complete a Gift Aid form as this allows us to collect the tax back if applicable.
If you are a member of the public and want a swarm collected please visit either the BBKA website to find a local collector or our page on how to check you have a honey bee swarm and not something else.
